Community activities

George and I have become very involved in local committees in an attempt to put in as well as to get to know more locals.

Every month we put the local paper together, called the Goornong Guide. We have also built the local website and are constantly working toward engaging more residents in our activities. CLICK HERE to visit Goornong see what we've done.

Before Christmas we organised two events called Carols in the Bush, one in Axedale and the other in Goornong. There are some pictures on the website - CLICK HERE
We are both qualifed fire fighters now and attend regular meetings but have not been to any fires yet. I did rush off to an alarm on Christmas Day only to find out that my beeper was faulty, phew. Was happy to go back to my Christmas lunch with the folks.

We are also on the Goornong & District Planning Committee which is developing the future direction of the area in several different areas such as Health; Sport & Rec; Education; Tourism; Natural Environment; and Economic Development. We have just revised our plan and have recieved some flood relief funding from the State & Federal Government to host an event to launch the plan and award our Citizen of the Year. We are holding the Beach Party in the Bush event here at 'Gold Fields' on Australia Day and everyone is welcome. CLICK HERE for more info.

New Website

I know, the old one is so out of date, I'm sorry! I've found that the way it was built and the system that it uses, really frustrating to use, especially with a low internate signal.

I've ranted and raved to Telstra and have now installed a new antenna which has changed my signal from 'Low' to 'High', Halleluiah!

Anyway, stay tuned, the new one is only just round the corner :)

2011 ESB Foals

Welcome

to the new ESB Blog Page. One of my New Years Resolution's is to keep all of our loyal friends and followers up to date with ESB happenings on a regular basis.

Most of you will know that my name is Vanessa Hawkins and that the property is called 'Gold Fields'. Having competed overseas I wanted to step things up, so started ESB in 1986 to produce some nice competition horses for myself.

I am fortunate enough to have Georgina Wood staying with me. She has managed to put up with me for over twelve months! George has a double degree in Education and Psychology and is now studying her Masters.
